The project
A working past,
made livable.
Once home to the printing press of the East Boston Times, the historic brick building now holds six distinctive loft-style apartments and a shared roof deck.
A rear addition creates additional living area for two residences and introduces commercial space, extending the building's usefulness while preserving the texture and presence that make it part of the neighborhood.

Adaptive reuse
The texture of history,
the ease of today.
Exposed brick, generous openings, and loft-like proportions preserve the building's industrial identity while new interventions bring light, comfort, and flexibility.
History retained
The original masonry shell keeps the building's story visible in the streetscape and inside each home.
Use expanded
A carefully integrated addition creates more living area and room for a new commercial use.
Shared outlook
A common roof deck turns the building's urban position into an amenity for every resident.
